Description of Copper Oval Sleeve Ferrule

Ferrules or crimps are used for forming soft eyes and loops and stops on galvanized wire rope. They are also known as wire rope sleeves and cable crimps.

Swaged connections are the highest strength termination on wire rope/cable on a zip line. Ferrules must be properly crimped to achieve holding strength. Properly swaged ferrules can hold 90% of cable strength.

Two ferrules are required for life support and ziplining applications (ACCT Standards). The extra ferrule serves as a backup in case of primary ferrule failure due to defects or improper swaging.
